Baby Loss Awareness Week this year is from 9-15 October.
During this week, we locally, nationally and internationally remember all those little ones born too soon, born sleeping, unable to remain with us on earth. It’s a time to remember and share memories, to grieve, and to be supported and surrounded by others who know, care, understand and have been there.
All those little ones mean so much to so many. Whatever stage of pregnancy or age of baby loss, they’re all precious and they mean the world to their mums and dads, wider family and friends. Their losses leave an aching gap where lives have changed forever.
This event honours those little ones and helps other grieving parents have the time to focus, remember, and be supported. In Plymouth buildings around the city will be lit up pink and blue in an event that heartbreakingly unifies so many. The week is a national week for parents to remember their babies which culminates with the Wave of Light on Tuesday 15th October, where people light candles at 7 pm to remember their babies who sadly passed away.
At Pregnancy Crisis Care in Plymouth, we will be hosting a family support cake and coffee morning at Green Space on Mutley Plain on Saturday 5th October from 10 am to 2 pm.
This year we are also joining Luna’s Fund and Phoebe Hoskin Trust, meeting at Plymouth Theatre Royal at 6 pm, walking together to gather on the Hoe on October 15th to join the Wave of Light together.
There will be a chance to write your baby’s name on a ribbon, and we’ll tie them in a designated area at The Hoe. Ribbons can be collected on the evening or from our centre beforehand.
Luna’s Fund is also running events this week, supporting you all during this incredibly tough time for parents. Please join us as we remember and honour babies lost – we’re all better together – no one should ever feel alone at this time – we’re here to support you.
