Today, 22.8.24, is Rainbow 🌈 Baby Day.
A time to celebrate those precious babies born after a previous loss. Happy days for some. Extremely difficult days for those who’ve not yet been able to have their Rainbow babies.
We see many clients who have suffered such devastating loss of a baby within pregnancy. It often takes many weeks and months to process the complex loss of a treasured, much-wanted and longed-for little one.
It’s always an honour and privilege to walk alongside those who face this painful journey.
We also see those who become pregnant after a loss – their dream of a much loved and wanted Rainbow 🌈 Baby’. However exciting this is, it’s also often a time of great fear, completely understandable and very normal given their previous loss.
In our experience, seeing people regularly throughout their next pregnancy can help somewhat to reduce anxiety and fear, and give them a safe place to share their hopes, dreams, as well as remember their past experiences. It’s usually a very up-and-down journey, but as each milestone is reached and passed, this brings renewed hope and peace for their futures.
Thankfully, many get to hold and celebrate their Rainbow Baby, and we celebrate with them.
And for others, who haven’t yet had this experience, we mourn alongside them and hold hope for them too…. That one day they too will have another baby to cherish alongside remembering their lost little one.
